Well…..Can a Christian have a demon,  this is a very controversial subject, and has being discussed many times  over the years,  and there’s lots of confusion surrounding this issue. So let’s see if we can eliminate some of the confusion and look at what the Bible says first.

So when we look at the King James version of the Bible it talks about demon possession and we know from people like Derek Prince, a person with over 30 years of experience, writing about and casting out demons. This is a person who does not just talk about this subject as a philosophy or as a theory, he had a vast amount of actual experience casting demons out of thousands of people, he was also a  Greek scholar.

He does a very good job at pointing out how the Greek does not suggest that a demon can own a person,  but rather a person can be under the influence of a demon and this is very important to understand this,  and this is where a lot of the confusion comes from regarding can a Christian have a demon..

Can a Christian be possessed by a demon absolutely not …..

We know that when you become a Christian that you are possessed, body soul and spirit by our Lord Jesus. The New Testament makes it very clear that Jesus bought us with a price,  dying on a cross for us. We are Body Soul and Spirit, possessed by Him,  so the idea that a demon could possess a Christian is is obviously not correct and not true.

The NT  Greek does not suggest that a demon can ‘own’ a person, but rather a person can be under the ‘influence’ of a demon, again the word possessed should be translated as demonized. This truth from the bible should clear up this confusion.

So, the question is, can a Christian be demonized (influenced) by a demon….

Demons are discussed 63 times in the New Testament. Satan is cited over 30 times. Jesus spent ⅓ of His ministry speaking and dealing with demons.

1 Peter 5:8 …..Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour

1 Cor 10:20…We are cautioned not to be “participants with demons”

1 Cor 10:21….not to “drink the cup of demons”

2 Cor 11:14….and to be watchful for the “disguises” of Satan

James 4:7 ….Resist the devil’s

Acts 5:3…….But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land

Luke 22:3 ….Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.

The Bible leaves absolutely no room for debate on this subject……
